I am currently trying to decide on what I want to do with my XY Falcon project car. I have seen the GT clones, XY coupes and convertibles, lowriders, the hotted up and the blinged out...
I've thought a little bit and thought maybe go with classic GT type styling ie race stripes, spoilers front and back and the interior pretty much standard (black leather) but with a couple more chrome guages and focus my energy on customising the engine and drivetrain. I've had a couple of discussions with engine makers about a twin turbo efi 351 cleveland.
So if you had an XY that was pretty much rusted out and you had to start from scratch, what would you do with it?
And what about engines? Simple carb setup, or forced induction? Supercharger or turbos?
Cheers,
SB.

for me it would depend on what sort of xy it was, fairmont etc, what type of engine it had etc etc.if i had a fairmont i would go stock, same if it was a gs.if it was a stock 6cyl 3 speed id do what ever i wanted.

Yeah, I agree with Tuff 250. Depending on what the car is, if it's a basic falcon do what you want. From what you describe I think your plans sound pretty good. Keep the classic look going and have the surprise under the bonnet.

She's a Fairmont, originally had the 6cyl and three speed but somewhere along the line a 351 got dropped in. So as a rule, leave a Fairmont be a Fairmont?

Nah, do what you want with her mate. She isn't a factory V8 though I'd keep the Fairmont interior. After all, the GTs were built from Fairmonts so what you have is an ideal canditate to make a serious streeter.

What I would do is be individual. I'd do whatever I pleased as I'd have to own/drive it. I've done the same with my XB. My 16" wheels for example. I don't like convo pro's etc etc. Every man and his dog has those. Bigger wheels = cheaper rubber too. 15" w

My Brother has an extremely clean XW Fairmont in reef green. It looks the part & from the outside the only deviation from stock is a set of Hurricane alloy wheels with the spoke surface polished.

Underneath though it's a different story with the 302
