Hey guys. Just wondering if there are any differences between a "v8" aussie 4 speed and just a normal 4 speed. i understand bell housing will be different but is there anything else? thanks for your help.

Length of the input shaft, and the ratios (M20, M21 & M22 are all different ratio sets).

M21 is rarely available in 6cyl form (it was used in certain models like the GTR etc).

In the commodore era the M20 was behind 6s & 253s, and the M21 was 304/

Only difference between a 6cyl and V8 box with the same ratio sets is the input shaft and input shaft cover. As Mick states there is really only three ratio sets being M20, 21 and 22 but the V8 box was only ever made in M20 and M21 form. You can convert a

Yes Byron - you could get the M21 behind the 253 but only on the VH SS. Forgot that minor detail!

A mate told me that rare spares had the front shafts on sale for $40? I had a look but couldnt see them that cheap i told him to stop using his computer after the pub shut! is there many other places that make thes front shafts? cheers guys
