iv had a problem with my 186 getting a bit jumpy at idle speed for about 5 years,iv just had the motor fully rebuilt and the problem is still there but not as bad,how can this problem be fixed?i thought once the motor was rebuilt it would fix the problem but it wasn't the case,any ideas out there?.

Assuming you have a standard cam in the motor, it MUST be either Fuel, Electrical or Exhaust.

What carby are you running and has it been rebuilt?

Are you running the original pints dizzy or have you upgraded to a Blue motor electronic dizzy? How old

thanks for your reply dave.firstly the cam would defently be standard as it was rebulit with the motor not replaced and iv had this hq prem for 17 years.the carby is the standed strongburg type, it was replaced with reco about 3 years ago and has been reb

Hi John,

First thing I'd do in your situation would be to check the dizzy out. is there play in the rotor bushes? Is the inside of the dizzy full of gunge and garbage? Are the rotor button and cap servicable? BTW, I'd also replace your condensor....the

thanks dave ,in short it sounds like replaceing the parts in the dizzy will be best and then replace it with the electronic one in the next few months,hopefully i can now get on top of this problem,thanks again johnq.

If you want a cheap option, try the condensor first and see how that goes.
