gday. was looking to buy and rebuild a 202 for my lj for just street use and a bit of fun. i have come across a worked 186 though and trying to decide if thats a better option. its got a stage 3 yella terra head, 35/75 cam and 350 holley. if i can get it cheap is that the way to go? from what i understand the only difference is that they are stroked differently. the 186 will therefore rev harder but am i compromising much else? any opinions much appreciated. thanks.

Mate, Almost identical specs to my 186, It goes hard,
186 and 202 have same bore size, stroke is different to give the extra cubes in a 202,
go the 186 i reckon

Ditch the 350 and replace it with a 390 or 465 4 barrel version..it will go much better and be more economical to boot.

Cheers...Dave

If the opertune came up, i would just go the 186. The work has been done. And the power your looking for is there on tap. Dont bother BSing around, just go with whats availible to you, Drop her in and have fun.

Fair enough to tell him to put a set of triples on it as long as he has... prob a grand. I saw a triple deltorro set up on ebay for 1200. go with the holley. heaps cheaper and you still get good power from it.

I like everyone's thinking here... I have a worked 179 (which is now 186cu), runs a 350 Holley which has been dyno tuned at 140rwhp @ 6500rpm. For a motor of 3.0l capacity, and on carby, thats a good output, and my motor sounds very similar to the one y
