Hiya guys n gals,
I have a KB28 Holden Rodeo but i guess some would call it an Isuzu, however, the motor is a G200Z petrol.
The motor doesnt use oil in the sense that the rings are buggered but it does leak oil into the air cleaner assembly and therefor puts a very short life on the air filter as it becomes clogged with oil.
What oil is left in the air cleaner assembly then drains out onto the exhaust manifold where it creates a very distinctive oil burning smoke n smell. The motor is running a little rich probably due to this however on closer inspection of the spark plugs, they're burning nicely without fouling.
I was wondering if anyone could put some light on this problem please and inform me of a solution.
I have read that some vehicles have a bypass valve on the oil filter assembly or there abouts in case of a blocked filter or something simular and thought maybe this could be the problem. This oil thing has only happened once b4 and i gave the vehicle an oil change but didn't change the filter. That was 2 months ago and I have around 3000k's to go b4 the next major oil change.
Any info would be much appreciated and thanks in advance.

You could go somewhere like supercheap & buy a cheap oil catch can to stop the oil getting to your air cleaner.

When the can fills up you simply pour the oil back into your engine.

A dodgy solution to a worn engine but it should help. If you

Firstly, how is the compression in the motor? Best to do both a wet and a dry test.

Secondly, how is the PCV valve? Has someone removed it and just run a hose from the rocker cover fitting to the aircleaner?

Thirdly, has the baffle under the PCV Val

Ignition problem Steve...No idea whether 97 Rodeo's have electronic ignitions or points, but the module (if electronic) sounds like it is faulty or the condensor if it is points.

Cheers...Dave
