I have a HX Panelvan original 308 4 speed M21. If I was going to fit a Turbo400 would any tunnel mods be needed for it to fit?

gday mate,
No tunnel mods would have to be made, you will need an adaptor plate to bolt the turbo box up to the aussie pattern of the block. You will also need a different turbo cross member and tailshaft as they are different from the aussie 4 speed to

Cocko is 100% correct, although I hate adapter plates so I'd either get a new block or use a trimatic instead.
If you fit the TH400 you'll need a new speedo cable, a TH400 t-bar and an original HJ-HZ 308 auto tailshaft from a wagon, statesman, ute or van

Hi Byron,
Is the tailshaft from a panelvan with an aussie 4 speed the same as a trimatic tail shaft? I never new this about six months ago I had to reco my tailshaft but now need a new gearbox I havent thought about a trimatic because I still wanted to u

Yes, for the same engine ie 6cyl or V8 (the 6cyl and V8 rear unis are different on all bar the tonners unless the 6cyl example has a large salisbury for some reason or vice versa). Any HQ-WB trimatic, 3spd manual or 4spd manual ute, van, statesman or wago

Thanks for all the replies. Am going to be fitting bigblock chev so turbo 400 will bolt straight up. As long as I dont have to modify the tunnel Im happy.Thanks again.
