well y,all after brilliat 308 conversion, into transit, decided to check thermostat,,as sle gauge was not showing temp,,,it was a little bit dirty, but still moves in and out,
my question is>>>> should i drill small hole in thermostat while i have it out?? and why do some do this??

I've always done this, just a small 5mm hole, reason for doing this is, in case the thermostat becomes stuck in the closed position - you will still allow coolant to flow through the block and heads. As the hole is only small, it won't make hardly any dif

The other reason for a hole in a thermostat is to let air bleed out of the system when you fill it up with coolant. To try to help get rid of air locks in the system.
