'72 Ford XYGT for sale (South Africa)

South African Ford XY GT for sale. Just to give a bit of history on the car. It is a 1972 351C 4V with manual transmission. Colour is Peri-Peri Red. It has power steering and the usual GT 9” LSD differential. Its is a genuine South African Fairmont XYGT with 8000 rpm rev counter, 240kph speedo, and three gauges as the Falcon GT in Australia. Body no’s is the usual MS33 XXXX (MS is South African build)with matching data plate under the seat. According to data plate originally the car was FMX auto but was at some stage of its life changed to manual. The motor was o/hauled and runs beautifull. No oil smoke or oil consumption and no noises. The car is also fitted with a 2.5” dual exhaust system. Mechanically the car is in good shape. Rear suspension was o/hauled with new springs fitted. Front suspension requires minor attention with adjustment to steering ram.(Repaired since) Body appears to be straight with no dents, scratch marks or any visible rust. There was some rust removed before. I noticed the two front floor panels have been replaced as well as lower sections of the rear fender panels. General paint condition is very good. Interior has been redone nicely but not original. Things such as interior lights and centre console still to be refitted.(All parts available) New carpets fitted. The overall condition is average to good for a car of its age. Edited by user 18 years ago

I might know of a Rhino coming up for sale. XY, white with black stripes. Car is in S/Africa. If anyone is interested, ( seriously interested ) I've got a friend over there that can find more info on the vehicle.

This person wants nearly $20,000 up front to another country.
There is no proof the car even exists, or that it will be delivered as promised.
Once you hand the deposit over there may (I said MAY) be requests for further money due to unexpected expenses

Sammy and Dave, when I find out more I'll let you know. Spoke to the friend in SA about the car. Seen it from a distance but not up close. Not sure on condition, price, originality or even sure if it's a XY. Might be a XW by the description. I'll hav

I am not even a tyre kicker I have no interest in the new fangled Fords I am into the old ones. And you are right, I don't have the cash anyway.

Hi John,
Thank you for your honesty in replying to my post. I can understand you and your fellow Ausies concern regarding possible scams. Dont be worried I would also be very reluctant to part with hard earned dollars especially when buying a car abroad.

Thanks for mailing me the info on the XYGT. Car really looks great but I see in the backgroung another one. Is it the XW you mention in your post to johnperth. Would you be interested in selling it. I'd rather go for the XW, they have more of a classic lo
