For sale is an April 82 build XE Fairmont Ghia in good condition. I have had the car since December '04 and since then have done a few bits and pieces here and there.

Car is for sale because it just sits there and rarely gets driven and I don't have the physical time to do it up, which was my original intention when I bought it. We are also moving house and need the space.

Genuine 235,000 k's

Rego until 01/07

NO RWC

When I got it registered, Vicroads told me that being an April '82 build it can be fitted with a Cleveland without an engineers certificate.

ENGINE: EFI spec 4.1ltr 6cyl, has approximately 60,000 k's from new, including a freshen up around 9000 k's ago. Running on straight LPG with an Impco 200 mixer and B2 converter. Gas system has a Jan '05 compliance plate and runs well. Engine has a pod filter, extractors, fairly new distributor, push button ignition, 3spd auto. Engine could do with a good tune up as the car has been sitting around for a while.

BODY: Painted in Midnight blue over the top of the factory Monza red. Is in fairly good condition, with the obvious stone chips and a few other paint chips. For a 24 year old car, the body is in fairly good nick, but could do with a cut & polish and tidy up of paint chips. Boot lid has no lock and is damaged around that area but sale will include a replacement boot lid in great condition. Has genuine Ghia bonnet and headlights (if you know your XE's you'll know what that means). Badges and chrome have been removed by previous owner although I started putting some of the chrome back on.

INTERIOR: Seats are in fairly good nick although the front passengers has a small rip. Carpet is as you would expect for its age but not too bad, has the Ghia/ESP style dash with tacho and oil pressure etc, EA steering wheel fitted, Mustang style shifter, Centre console is missing the switches for electric windows etc, it has all the wiring in the doors for the electric windows but I preferred the winders, seatbelts were replaced in Jan '05 so they're still good. Clarion head unit and 6 disc stacker.

WHEELS/TYRES: 15 inch XE Ghia rims in ok condition, a few scratches. Bridgestone Panther 205/65/15 tyres with plenty of rubber.

BRAKES: Front discs are from a V8 XE Ghia with good pads and calipers, Rear discs are from an XC GXL and have plenty of meat on the pads and new calipers fitted Feb '05. Car stops on a five cent piece even at 100 km/h.

DIFF: 3.08:1 LSD, pretty tight, no lash or slack. 28 spline axles from an EB.

OTHER: Reasonbly new battery re-located to boot, Power steering, make a good run around or project.

SPARES: Buying this car you will get a truckload of spares including Impco 225 LPG mixer, 80 litre fuel tank (had to be removed from the car for straight LPG compliance), factory ECU, power steering pump, Alternator, pair of front indicators, pair of XF tail lights, rear seat, boot lid, boot lock, complete manifold, door handles, XF shifter, pair of second hand Pioneer 6 x 9 speakers and more.

Price is negotiable at $1400

Located at South Morang, can be inspected at Campbellfield which is where it is to be picked up from.

This car will be seen in exactly as is condition. What you see is what you get. It is no show car, but is a good daily driver and cheap to run on LPG - approximately 450 k's to a $30 tank of gas.
