Hi guys can someone tell me what a cleveland 302 should run in degrees C please, its rebuilt with new water pump, hoses, thermostat, radiator etc only thing it hasnt got is a shroud. New VDO gauge has it runnig at 110 and the gauge only goes to 120 so it seems hot. Purges coolant from overflow when stopping after 20 minute run also.
I have alos fitted a VDO oil pressure gauge,Can someone tell me if the original sender unit is incompatible as i am sure the wring etc is right but the gauge wont read. It goes up to 20psi with key on but once car starts there is nothing .Thanks in advance

Rob

that does seem a bit high since water boils normally at 100, what i usually do is run the lowest temp thermostat you can get not the recomended one i think they are about 71 degree ones which should give you a bit more to play with unless timing is way ou

All motors will run best at 80 - 85 degrees C.

Have you bled your cooling system (including the heater) properly?

You should not need a fan at all at more than about 60 kmh, so running hot while running indicates some other problem.

How tight is

Thanks: 1 times
original non gs oil sender unit wont work with a gauge.
Like Dave says, check all of the above in regards to overheating. Also make sure the head gaskets were put on right if the heads have been recently done. if you have the fan shroud, put it back o
