Howdy,
Never been much into 'bitumen sports' but give me a dirt road, gravel pit or claypan & I reckon I can hold my own. That being said I've tried a couple of times in the work cars (current model commodores) to do a burnout & they just sit there on the stall. Obviously something's wrong with my technique to get started, so it got me to thinking, what's the best way to start? These things have plenty of herbs & shouldn't need a dirt turbo like the old 186 did!

I think the reason can be found in the Commodore computers, they are programmed to counteract idots.

Two terms - Torque Management and Traction Control.
Either will stop you abusing your work cars, both together are even more effective.

Guys, I'm impressed! I didn't expect so much respect for the bosses cars. We don't actually abuse them too much (not any more than he expects)! I don't appreciate idiots hooning up & down my street either, so I've only tried it far far away from anyone wh

I'm surprised anyone would ever ask how to do a burnout - do you seriously not know?
If TC is off or you're in preTC the you have 3 options;
1)full lock on steering wheel + full throttle
2)linelock - left foot on brake, right foot mashes throttle and l |

Or there is my favourite burnout technique.....
1) Stick 400 cubic inches of the General's finest iron under the hood (tuned for torque).
2) Stomp foot down.

I like Jabba's method best, but not really applicable in my case. Thanks for the tip Mr Void, I was aware of all of those methods & have used most of them but it was the line-lock I was having trouble with - the car just sits up at about 2 1/2 grand... &

Plumb your windscreen washers to squirt in front of your back wheels and fill the resorvoir with diesel or similar smoke em up solution.

Sometimes with the newer cars they seem to stall there for a little before getting the power up to do the burnout. So Biege what is your line of work? Driving newer cars and doing burnouts at free will your not in the force are you?
