How can i identify the 3.3 motor, i recently purchased, I understand that with it having 3.3 marked on the block, it is probably out of the early commodore models. But i was wanting to know is it a blue, black or red. Unfortunatley it has been painted a poxy yellow colour. Thanks Also seeking advice on suggestions for ignition and a fuel pump, any suggestions would be appreciated. The motor runs 104 cam, roller rockers, tripples, heaps of head work etc

With an engine number so low, it would appear to be a late 70s red VB 3.3L motor.

All the red motors had their size cast into the block using cubic inches as a measure, so if it were a red out of a VB Commodore it would have '202' cast into it rather than '3.3'. If it has 3.3, then it is most likely a blue block.

Hi Guys.
This is a common misconception. Late Red 202 are also cast 3.3. It started partway thru the VB Commodores. So a 3.3 casting could be a late Red, a Blue or a Black motor.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |
