hq brake proportioning valve when faulty im told you cant buy new or get parts for them and have to replace with later model any info thanks for any help

Hi, I was told the same thing, its a bit like all the hq parts now no one seems to want to know about them. I have just reconditioned all my hq brakes but didnt look at the proportioning valve when you hit the brake a bit hard the rear locks up.so i think

The one under the floor or the one in the engine bay ? The one in the bay is just a switch block and doesn't do any proportioning. You can pull it apart and replace the Orings easily as long as the alloy body isn't corroded internally Its just 2 orings

Hay Craig.
You might want to make sure you have fitted the correct wheel cyl size in the rear brakes. I was supplied the wrong size and the same thing happened. Would pay to check this out befor mucking around with the valve. Hope it helps

hq brakes the proportioning valve was moved under the bonnet incorporated in the switch block on models after the hq and again on the wb to the master cylinder the wb can be repaired the others are throwaways by the book cheers

You got it wrong there, it is still a proportioning valve and was relocated late in the HQ or early HJ when the brake switch was fitted. quote:

The HQ one which is the same as the LC-LJ torana one that is in the engine bay does no proportioning Its a differential switch incase of fluid loss or failure in one circuit that trips the switch The later HJ one incorporates the under the floor unit as
