Has anyone ever heard of a HQ 350 Engine stamped with a serial number prefix OU instead of QU? Could this be a factory mistake or a very poor attempt at re-stamping a block? It is supposed to be an original 2dr Monaro block. Any insight welcome.

Hi Matt.

It's probably just poor stamping, you often hear people mis-quoting OL or OR engine prefixes in HQs.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

Turns out the engine number had been tampered with.....it was originally 11QU.....Statesman. The act of wiping off the 11 wiped of the tail on the Q!
