Hi, I have a VT 5L mounted in my Range rover, one thing I've always been wondering is if there is a distributorless ignition available for this engine. The dizzy sits almost up against the firewall and will be a pain in the backside to get to should I ever get water in it. Has anyone set up a distributorless Ignition in there car? What brands are available, whats involved in doing the job. I would appreciate any details I can get in doing this job. Thanks Rob 92 RR VT5L for a heart Bayswater Vic Edited by user Tuesday, 26 December 2006 9:29:28 PM(UTC)

That is one reason why they are there. Water doesn't get to it. In the 70s you used to see a lot of Fords stuck on the side of the road in heavy rain and floods but no Holdens. Cheers, Pete. Old Holdens never die, they just go faster. Edited by user Wednesday, 27 December 2006 10:45:58 PM(UTC)

Your best bet would be to contact Kalmaker in WA. They do crank trigger set-ups for motors like the Toyota Lexus V8s running the Delco ECUs. Hope this helps.

If you find there is nothing else available then it should not be too hard to waterproof your existing distributor. Back in my National Service days in the Army, I saw some training films showing Land Rovers being prepared for underwater driving.

Thanks for the tip Matt, I will take a look over there.
Brian, that is another way to do it, Ive also thought about running a small tube to the dizzy and pressurizing it to keep water out of it. I just want to make sure its trouble free out in the scru
