Any tips on compressing the front springs for the HJ, I can only find the one type of compressor which are too big and go on the outside.

also I have got an RTS chassis, from doing some forum searching I see that the camber and castor angles are different to the pre RTS suspension etc. should I just leave the shims out (and wait for a wheel alignment) or put them in the way they were before on the nonRTS suspension

Jack the car up and put a stand under the subframe. Then put a floorjack under the control arm, out as near as possible to under the ball joint, Take the weight, then let it down until it's very slightly clear of the control arm. Undo the tie rod, then t

Sandman has told you spot on how to do it.If it is a lowered spring it will just fall out of the lower control arm when you lower it down. If it is a std height v8 spring it may have to be pryed out of the control arm.As with anything to do with compresse

Seeing your question was on compressing the spring I assume you already have it out and are having trouble replacing it. You most likely had to lever it out as HQ SS said and this is normal on HQs to WBs. Any spring that has to be levered out has to be

Thanks very much guys, appreciate it. Yes I was trying to get the springs back in, I only have the engine, trans and rear wheels etc on the tonner chassis (no deck) at present would this be enough weight to compress what I think are v8 springs (engine is

I assume the body is on the chassis and it is just the back section that is missing. If that is the case then you should have enough weight to compress the spring, particular with a six cylinder diesel in it. The problem is usually getting the

Like the other guys say,take care, especially if you haven't got the compressor!
With the V8 spring fully extended but still trapped by the control arm there is one load of energy still stored there, as I found out when I pried one out, it only

Cheers guys, the cab is off as I had to replace the chassis, and did all bushes and balljoints etc. I will make a tool up I think, thanks for all the help and info, hopefully I can get my front wheels on soon!

I you have a set of the spring compressors thatt are just a bolt with a hook on each end you can use them like the tool mentiond earlier.
I did it by unscrewing the threade hook then you pass the saft through the hole in the op shock mount and then you p
