In one of my holley books it says that the reason for 450 carbys design was to make it a low emissions and good fuel economy carby and also making it there cheapest direct bolt on replacement for the q-jet on 6cyls up to big blocks.I did notice it is not

Thanks, I tried the site & for a 2 barrel it recommended a 350 & had no recomendations for a 4 barrel. I've heard quite a few people on the site here say they don't think the 350 is the best carb for a 186 (despite there being thousands getting around) &

the 350 won't have the throtel responce of the smaller primarys of the 390 (eg.being 195 cfm) but does end up having a better top end as it has a bigger cfm rating overall.

I agree with Mr Scotto too, the smaller primarys are better on the street and give you a better chance at fuel economy (if that is what you need as well) and when you need power you have the secondarys there. To me a 4 barrel gives me more fine tuning op

I'm still having trouble getting a 390 - do you still have yours Mr Scotto? I didn't ring yet because I was watching one on ebay, but I didn't win it. What would happen if I put my 600 on until I could find one?
Alternatively, I have a 465 that's only

Local speed place wants $700 for a 390. I tried to walk out of there without laughing too hard. Add in Street Machine shows them at Hume performance for $385 (rebuilt..?), but I was hoping to get a good 2nd hand one! Has anyone used Hume before? I only kn

The Beige Hornet. What is the list number on your 600 and your 465 holley. You can interchange some metering blocks but it helps to have the original to match it too.

Hq ss: List for the 600 is: 1850 3 2848. I've got two 465 bodies, their lists are: 1848 1 2746 & 1848 1 8090. Would be nice if I could work something out.

both your 600 and the 465 use the same gaskets in the primarys. So the 600 metering block will actually bolt up to the 465 body.If both the carbys look the same on the metering plate boss it may be just a straight swap over. But I can find nothing to say Edited by user Monday, 15 January 2007 7:27:55 AM(UTC)
