Hey guys. Recently bought a HQ thats supposed to have a few Brock parts on it off a VH SS. I need help identifying these, and some info on them. First are the B cast heads, theyve got extensive work done to them though, am I able to identify these somehow? Secondly the inlet manifold is supposed to be off the VH SS, im guessing it too has work done to it (fairly hypo non stroked 308) 850dp is sittin on top of it atm. Last but not least the block itself, is there a way to be able to tell from the block numbers if its a genuine Brock Block? (unsure if there was any actual differences with the Brock blocks and standard 308 blocks)
Thanks in advance.

Some HDT blocks had a different prefix, others didn't. Basically all 308 HDT motors (up to early 85) had the same VT prefix as any other commodore 308, but the HDT motors copped a double row timing chain, baffled sump, and a few other bits. However, the |

Ok got some of the details here now. Engine number appears to be 11QT301XXX on the other side strangely enough is scribed IVA MOTIVE and what appears to be ...... after it. Manifold number is 92015955, has GM cast into the marking on top facing the front

It's a HQ Statesman block.

The manifold is the right part number to be either VH or VK HDT, VK manual 304, or standard VL.
You'll need to lift the carby off & see if it has a ribbed floor (VL), flat floor(VK 304) or flat floor & kidney shaped holes (VK HDT) or flat floor, kidney |

Thanks guys appreciate the info. Bit of a bummer about the block side of things, was there much difference between the vh Brock and hq style blocks? Bottom ends had a lot of work done, so if it rules out the differences there, then theres no worries.

There were changes made from red to blue.
The block was the same for regular VH and HDT VH, it's just what went in that changed.
As it's had a rebuild, none of that would matter anymore.

Three main differences between a blue block and yours are:
Blue block has longer threaded bosses for the four head bolts that protrude into the valley. Yours will have a neoprene rear main seal. The blue block can be drilled to holden or Chev gearbox |
