hey guys once again im asking your advice

you guys rock by the way

would a loose uni joint cause the car to be sluggish when taking off, because i lost my tailshaft tonight and was wondering if the fact the uni joint was buggered could that have been causing my troubles...!

A lose uni joint would make the car vibrate but wouldn't make it sluggish. Check the engine and box and also make sure your brakes are releasing properly.

only 3 things make them slugish air. fuel, or gearbox in 30 yrs I havent found anything else that makes them go sluggish with the execption of stupidity (most guys arnt stupid)lol

Poor spark (ie dirty plugs, dodgy leads etc) will also make a car sluggish. I can't believe that in 30 years you have never seen that. :-)

What about binding brakes, incorrect tune (timing for example). They can make a car sluggish as well.

**** fuel - like woolworths or any other fuel discount seller. I have had a lot of customers with problems caused by this fuel. Changed fuel all problems go away.
And now that caltex and woolworrths are in the same bed, I am not sure about caltex fuel

Well since I have just had a full tune and service, including the gas mixtures, new plus n leads. Havent changed the air filter but that wouldnt cause the problems im getting. I dont think anyways please correct me if im wrong. I tend to get my gas from m

i should have qualified that statement for you munromadman the first thing i do is change the plugs points leads cap and button so i know they are right.Most people check that first

What about the fuel filter? A partially blocked fuel filter will let a car idle well enough but wont let enough fuel through upon acceleration.

Another thing that can cause a gas car to become sluggish is severe valve seat recession causing heavily shrouded valves & weak performance.

A mate of mine bought a 245 powered Centura a few years ago that had been on gas for a long time. He did dot
