XY GTHO block should start off JG33. What you have listed makes no sense to me unless the block has been restamped by someone like the police. Is the ute registered?

All Falcon GT's will have an engine number beginning with JG33 or JG66 (coupes). Apparently a JH prefix also exists for GT's.
I think you are looking at a casting number and not the engine number.

With the compliance plate your ute was a falcon 500 utility with a 351 originally. So should have the nine inch diff out back too. More than likely with the 351 the car was a Factory GS. Car would have had sports dash, GS grill with the driving lights,

If the engine says JG23 it is out of a Falcon 500 sedan.

Definitely not a GT motor.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the tag saying Falcon Van. Things like that do occur. Falcon coupes actually have Falcon Sedan stamped on their ID plates.

Where are you getting this jte engine number from? Is it on the LH side of the engine block on the flat surface just near where the head bolts on?

You really need to show us a photo of this block and in particular this engine number.

Ok, it's starting to make a bit on sense. The engine number is on the left hand front side of the block (not the rear)

Unless it is a JG33 engine it is not a GTHO block.

Other than that, you've got us stumped.
