how am i able to tell if my 307 block is original for hk monaro ? were the monaro motor a certain casting No. or within a certain engine No. range ? thanks in advance

The 307 engine in a Moanro was exactly the same as the one fitted to any other HK/HT. The engine numbers were sequencial, just like the VIN and chassis numbers. You must remember the Monaro was nothing special, just like the current SV6 and SS.

Post the full engine number, but leave off the last two digits of the Holden part before the K so it looks like 307137xxK1016.
Yes they were a specific casting number and as the Monaro & Brougham started production 7 months or so later than the rest of

byron the engine no. is 307164xxK0530, casting no. is 3914636. thanks

It's from a Pagewood HK, early 1969 (Jan-Mar) possibly a late december build 1968 but unlikely.
It should have come from a chassis number around high HK50xxxSS to mid HK51xxxSS, and a VIN between approx 8xxxxKH561500 and 8xxxxKH562000. These are 'broad-b

no. that`s fine thanks byron. it`s in a hk prem that was originaly 186, a mate asked if it was a monaro block so i thought i`d see if any one new. thanks for your help

Well there is no guarantee, but it could be. Most likely Brougham. Second most likely, Monaro or Premier. Then Kingswood. Lastly, and least likely, Belmont.
