HX or HZ, UC Torana or VB Commodore. WB and later Commodore fits also but has a hole on the side for hazard switch which won't fork in the HQ harness. Use the whole column piece with the ignition switch, indicator assembly etc. Will bolt straight on to yo

Just the top part. Leave the column and the shifter mechanism (or blank plastic bit if a floor shift). You can use the whole column out of a HX or HZ if you like, but you'll have to pull it apart anyway as the bottom bit that aligns with the dash is diffe

HI Byron.
I pulled the steering column out of a HJ that I plan to put in a HZ van. I understand the indicator stalks are different and ill have to do a bit of fiddly work as mentioned above, but is there also an issue with the general fit under the dash?

Nope. You need to strip the column and use the upper piece (bearing retainer with ignition barrel and stalk on it) off a HX or HZ but the column and the lower pieces are the same. Just check that the ignition switch itself is identical, but these are easy

Also the Commodore one has a much smaller plug so you have to sort that out.
I was sorting out some stuff today for the next swapmeet and came across a bunch of commie and HJ/Z harnesses for the combination switch might have a commie switch somewhere als
