I have started the EH up and I have noticed that when power is connected, the charge light is on. That is all of the time, even when the ign is off.

Then when the ign is switched to on, the charge light goes off, then when the car starts it is still off.
Normally it should be off when ign is off, on when ign is on, and go off again when car starts.

I would assume there main power feed on the startermotor post which is live all of the time which also goes to the alternator for battery charge somehow is feeding back to the alternator charge light. Yeah?

Usually it's a symptom of failing diodes in the alternator causing current to leak from the battery, through the charge light & into ground via the faulty diode.

The regulators on the stock EHs had a nasty habit of burning out the resistor on the back of the regulator, which was fitted by the factory when they upgraded the generator from 25amp I think to 30 amp or something like that. It was a cheap way of doing i

It is a Bosch 85A alternator with built in reg. 5 years old.

I have done some investigating, the twin pin plug on the back of the alternator has a power wire and a charge light wire.

The main wire on the bolt on post is direct to the starter +ve pos

Peter before you go pulling your wiring harness apart I would disconnect the battery, & disconnect all wires from your alternator. Try reconnecting your battery with the alternator completely disconnected (all three wires). This will rule out your altern

Hi Guys.

The fault must be in the wiring harness. Peter said that the generator light is still ON with the 2 pin plug disconnected, meaning a probable short to posistive in the harness near the alternator.
