Hi there ppls just wondering if anyone knows if the gear ratios on a 6 cyl trimatic are the same as a v8 trimatic?

the 253 trimatic has the same ratios as the six, the 308 trimatic is different the six has a 2.4:1 stall ratio and the 8's have a 2.2:1 stall ratio. they have different total fluid levels as well. this is for vb to vh commodores others are probably/maybe

thanks for your post. What I was wondering is whether or not I can instal a 6cyl gear set into a 5 litre trimatic to obtain a lower 1st and 2nd gear? I have a tall diff and want to keep it so the car cruises in top gear but first gear gets me to 100kms pe

Hi Guys.
All series 2 & 3 Tri-Matics (HQ on) have the same gears ratios for 4-cyl, 6-cyl and V8. Planetary gear ratios and stall ratios are 2 totally different things.
The old series 1 boxes (HG/LC cable kickdown type) used the old European gearset |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |
