They say good things come to those who wait, this happened to me the other week. Over 5 years ago a HQ SS came up for sale in SA on it were personal number plates HQSS-72, I had just got my SS and thought bummer that numbers gone. When i was at the RTA getting my licence re-newed I asked about that number plate , she looked it up and told me it was in someones name , she then said looking at this ,that plate has not been allocated to a vehicle for over 5 years, the car was back on its original plates and so the number was available due to the time limit and not tied to any car. I imediatley ordered the plates for my SS and yes these are allocated to a car now . So thats an interesting bit of knowledge about number plates that I didn`t know about. If you have plates in the same situation stick them on a car or maybe lose them back to the RTA.

I did know about the time-expired rule but have not seriously looked in to plates for mine yet.

Now I didn't know you could do that. I will do it with my GTS as I would like to get personalised plates when it's finished.
The plates on my SS are not the originals
I believe the car was originally registered interstate and came to SA later in
