There's a few things which goes against these engines.
The standard heads, manifold, and throttle body will hold you back. So will the pathetic excuse for an airflow meter (see that bit in the inlet tract that goes down to nearly an inch in diamet

No worries! You can learn a lot by reading the right stuff and talking to the right people... anyway.
I would guess your car to be making about 100-110Kw @ wheels.
If it were my car, being a poor mechanic, I would...

I had an EL futura for a while. I never touched the motor, but i did touch the suspension, which is basically identical to your ED's.
If you want it to go round corners, get some pedders gear. I had their lowest legal springs and sportsrider sh

A lot of what Josh has stated makes good sense. I would expect a bit more than 100-110kw from a stock v8 though as my old EB2 used to do 80kw before an injector clean & tune & 100kw after. It was a 4 litre manual.

If the airbox is the same as any 6cy

It would not surprise me at all if a 5 litre made the same power as a good 4 litre, especially if the six has had a head gasket done at some stage, and has a bit shaved off the head.
Stock 302s are slow as hell.
A manual trans would give a 6 a better po

There is not a lot of difference between an EB2 & an ED besides small cosmetics (such as the fact that ED had a nicer grille & headlight treatment for the XR's)

To be honest not a great deal unless they come with exhaust manifolds because earlier manifolds don't fit gt40 heads properly. Well they fit but you can't change spark plugs. Certainly stau under $1000. you could spend the low $2000 mark & get new alloy h
