The monaro hg gts motor 186s. Is their a specific number that followed eg 400 500 ?

186S engines were number sequencially withall other 6 cylinder engines in the HK to HG, starting at 1001. So an engine sequence could have been 161H12345 followed by 186S12346, then these could have been fitted into any HK to HG. So no there is no specifi

So if i cannot track the monaro (hg) back to it's first rego, will i not be able to know what the original motor number was ????

So doing the hg up back to the original standard will stop at the (start putting in original motor)Even if i put a 186s in it, its not .Bugger

Failing finding the original paperwork, the best you can do is try to find a motor that is just a bit older than your car (maybe a month or two).

The motor's cast date is cast into the block, near the fuel/oil pumps, IIRC, and will be a code with month
