Will filling the water jackets be a nuisance on the street? Ive been told it increases horsepower and the compression ratio.

Filling the water jackets with what? They SHOULD be full of water/coolant anyway.

Qute, stop being so facetious. He is talking about filling a block with Devcon or epoxy or even concrete. These products stiffen the block and you lose (most of) your cooling system. Running grout filled blocks works OK on street engines. I run a couple that are filled with no problems.
What engine are you looking at filling, and for what reason. For a reasonably stock engine, there is no point.

it's a 186 and it will be bored to 192 and will be fully worked. Ive heard that the 's that are bored +60 have cooling problems, this will make it worse wont it?.

If you have problems with cooling, it will be worse when you hot your engine up whether it's grouted or not.
If you grout it, you will need to have your cooling system in really good shape, as you reduce the volume of water circulating by the volume of

I was interested to read the feed back on grouting a engine.The only grouted engines I have ever seen were being raced on a 1/4 mile. They ran methanol and only had to run about 90 seconds to 120 seconds max.Weight and structural strenth were the main co

The first time I did it was when a 383 I had wore out and it needed boring again so I had to go .060"oversize. As it still had the short 400chev rods I

Thanks for all the feed back Sandman. it seems like grouting it will make the engine alot more precise when i blueprint it. I think i should run a V8 radiator and twin thermos in the car. is this a good idea or is there a better method? also i plan to run a cold air intake system.

Yeh boom, that should work OK. Cold air is also a good move on hotted up engines. Besides the benifeit of extra HP, it will lessen the chance of detonation and pinging.

I think both Dave.My missus now keeps asking when her car will be finished and I just show her the next bit of rust that I have found. HQSS, I understand.
The pic of my Sandman ute was in 1991.
It has been off the road and in pieces at the panel shop since about Aug 04 now. I'm not in a hurry though, as long as the job is good. Hopefully when it's finished it will look better than or
