just curious as too how many kms a holden hq-wb 1tonner with a 308 will get on a tank of fuel? Any readings would be helpful, im just thinking of buying a tonner and im keen to see how far one goes on a tank.
(readings for both city driving and highway driving would be great)

in my hq prem with a mild 253 i can get 12/3 litres to the hundred on the freeway and gentle town driving it can push up to 15/16. if the foot gets pushed in hard with the 4 barrel open all the time i can literaly watch the fuel gauge move.

My panno with a 308 gets about 200km to the tank. Thats city driving.

my 308s in a station wagon - but if i treat it nice can get between 400 to 500 kms (compination of 50 50 highway and city driving), if i dont treat it nice about 300 to 350 kms on a tank of premium unleaded.

mills, what setup do you have on your 308? Dizzy, carb, cam etc? Is it auto or manual?

hey timbo, wish i could enlighten you with all the details. unfortunately, my expert car knowledge is currently at a oil and oil filter chnage level. i do not know much about cars at all. this site has been great introducing me to all things holden.

Hi All,
I used to own a VB 310pack (308 t400 2.75) that had a mild 308 and got about 250k per tank on 60litres of petrol ... then changed it to Gas Research twin throttle bodies on LPG only and got 280k per 75L of LPG. Do the sums ... it was worth |

I drive a HZ 308 TH400 1-tonner. It has 3.54:1 diffs but runs 275/70/16 tyres (works out to be equivalent to 235/60/14 tyres with a 2.85:1 diff). It's carrying around a bloody big Dana60 rear diff, Dana44 front diff, Dana20 transfer case and extra steel i |

The 308 in my HQ sedan gets about 230-250 on about 50L of LPG 50-50 town/highway driving. It's a duel fuel setup with an Elko Hi-Flow mixer running through a 600 vac sec Holley. I only ever run it on gas. It has a mild cam of unk spec and an electronic di

I've had a 202, then a 253, now a 308 in my panno and all seem to get around 200km to a tank. I usually put 40-45L in it. What's the fuel tank capacity in an HZ meant to be?

The Qute with 202 got about 300 k's to about 60 litres with a stock 202/tri/3.55 diff combo.
Scott: Your fuel tank is about 70 litres capacity.

Is it really 70L? It only ever fills just past 3/4 so I always thought it was a bit negative, but I once let it get down to about the empty line, filled it up with about 45L, and a few k's later the bastard died on me. Got it going again and it looked lik

Hi Scott,
Yep, I'm sure it's 70 litres. Holden quoted 75 for the HQ's but revised that to 70 for the later ones (although I can't remember what they quoted for HJ).
Your problem could be a couple of things. Maybe your fuel sender is cactus or worn a

I can get 400 odd kms on a tank of highway driving (253, 3 speed). I dont think my tank is 70 litres though. I thought it was closer to 50-55l.

Hi Scott, Sorry mate, I read your post as the rough road/low fuel/gunk in the carby all happened at the same time.
