Hello all

I'm a new to this site, and wondering if anyone can assist me. I recently purchased an XD Phase 5 from QLD and had it shipped across here to WA. I am in the process of getting it registered but need to sight the engine number. Only problem is it not where it should be, that is on the vertical flat section above the fuel pump. (This is not the original motor but has been in the car since 1984) There has never been a number on that section of the block so I'm not sure where to look next. I believe it is a 4 bolt block, but haven't had the sump of to confirm. Not sure where the block originated, US or Aus. Anyone got any ideas?
Regards
Shane

Shane, check the back of the block, drivers side just below the head. See if you can see any letters and numbers there. You'll need a mirror if the engine is still in the car. Is the engine a D or square block?
I've got a feeling your motor might be fro

Thanks Paul, I'll have a look for the number tomorrrow in the daylight. One thing I noticed today was at the rear of the block, on the top where the oil sender is located, there is a number 6 with a dot below it (or a number 9 with a dot above it). Any id

Yeah thats a great site, been perusing it over the past week but can't find the answers I need (although my knowledge on Aus Clevelands has increased enormously). Theres not much there on US blocks, assuming thats what mine is. Thanks for the link tho.

I'm pretty sure you'll find some numbers and letters on the back of the block below the head. The reason I think this is because I have a crate motor in my car from the States. It's a square block clevo and that's where the numbers are on it. I was als

Cheers for all your help Paul.
I tried to take a look today at the back of the block, but couldn't contort to get a view, even with a mirror. I have been issued a surrogate number from licensing in WA, so will run with that just to get it on the road.
