So far as I'm concerned anyway.
Problem is, after replacing instrument panel in HG, there are a few gremlins (other panel worked fine but fuel gauge was faulty). Symptoms are: No hi-beam light, when lights are one high beam & drivers indicator light comes on together - when the indicator & lights are on, both blink slowly. Slower at high than low beam. Indicator works fine on drivers side without lights on (but not on passenger side!) Fuel gauge also miss-reads & flicks when the indicator is on. I think I've got an earth problem or voltage comming across somewhere. I've checked & cleaned the earths. Any suggestions for tracking the gremlin down? Ta heaps...

Definitely sounds like a faulty earth. Get a small jump lead (a bit of wire with an alligator clip at each end), put your lights and indicator on, attach the jumper lead to a good earth on the car body and then attach the other end to various points on th

I agree that it sounds like an earth fault. Check outside the "square" too, like the strap from the battery -ve to frame. I know you didn't touch that with the dash but when you are dealing with extra low voltage changes in one place can affect others, an

Hi,

It might be something as simple as re-checking your fuse box for the source of all your problems.

That is where I would start, as that was the source of my problems when I replaced my ignition with out a KEY.

All sorts of problems developed

Thanks guys, went through a variety of different & changing symptoms but have narrowed it down to an earth on the dash (non-GTS, by the way). Don't know how this fixes the problem, but when I mucked around with it it started working properley. Other side

Ok so now it's all in the f*&^ing fuel guage is reading full unless another device is on & then it changes eg: reads less with lights on, moves when indicator is on... this guage has never been faulty before & was working fine when tested outside of the c

you said you tested the new gauge off the car and it was fine... just for the sake of asking, have you checked the 'faulty' gauge since removing it from the dash? May not have been the gauge in the first place??

Doesn't help but you got me wondering!

Good point. I didn't test it before it went in because old mate said it was all working fine. It probably was!! I do know that the other should have worked, because it was last time I owned it (long story) & it hadn't been in a car in between. I'll see ho
