VP 5 SPEED INTO VS AUTO CAR CONVERSION???

what is the nitty gritty of this conversion....wiring pedals etc..interchange and non interchange,traps for the inexperienced...my son wants to do this conversion and i have no idea whats needed as i only play with early stuff...but we do have his written off vp 5 speed car sitting at the yard for the donor,and he has a vs which is auto...cheers greg Edited by user Wednesday, 11 April 2007 4:59:52 AM(UTC)

Bit more info would help. 1. V6 or V8?? 2. VS series 1 or 2??
Big differences, electrically mainly, are the main hassles.
The box will physically fit up, so too the tailshaft.
The flywheel is different.
The auto PCM in the VS will not work w |

sorry mick,should know better myself on supplying the correct info when asking questions..spose it doesnt help when ive got an 18 year old hasslin me for info i dont know....both cars are V6 and the vs is series 2..thanks for the info mick i reckon it wil |

I think you can still buy the VS 2 manual V6 harness new for about $150. I have a VR V6 manual memcal and ECU somewhere around here too, but you probably need the Ecotec one anyway. I'd probably have the appropriate ECU for that too, but no memcal |

thanks byron,i may have to look closer at this as now one of his mates wants to do the same and it will probably save me having to flog this one and buy another...or if i was smart i would just go to the auctions and buy a s2 manual wreck wouldnt i? |

Just avoid a Getrag fitted example. Lots of headache with not a lot of gain ie dual mass flywheel.

Exactly, stick to a T5 out of a VS series 1, which ran from April 1995 up until May 1996.

What you really want is a BWPK1634 Eprom in the Memcal and an 16199728 ECU. This is the last of these with the latest software with all fixes applied. There looks to be a 2 and 4 wire O2 sensor on earlier Programs so if you need to check that you |
