Can someone give me an opinion on wether or not my sons Sandman is genuine,its numbers are HJ8WM70, Eng L32, Trans M20, Rear Axle GU4,Seating cap = 2, GVW = 2200, Trim 1886-19V, Paint 568-15949, thanks.

Looks like it could be. the M in the code's a good sign, as is the seating capacity. Not sure about the weight though. Look inside the van above the upper tailgate too, to see if theres any sign of the bracket thing which held the full headlining in place

If it is then it's an XU3 ie 14.5cwt carrying capacity. Does it still have GTS guards, dash, wheels? What about evidence of full headlining? And courtesy light switches?

Thanks for the info on my son panelvan, yes it has a gts dash,bucket seats, has full roof lining,to me it looks like a sandman, has statesman front and gts guards and steering wheel but someone has taken tyre placard of glovebox sometime in its life, what

Tyre placard means nothing in HJ. Statesman front is wrong - should be the same as a Belmont sedan. Email me the whole ID and i'll have a better look for you.

yep I agree, the numbers look good, ie; it probably is Sandman, though the GVM is inconclusive. Lucky to still have the dash and (particularly) the seats, worth re-upholstering (to original) if damaged, - if they are original (black basically). The GWM

Actually the GVM has no bearing on whether it's a Sandman or not in HJ or any other HQ-mid HZ for that matter. 2200kg is the GVM for a normal V8 panelvan in HJ (2150kg for 6cyl) and these have a designated carrying capacity of 14.5cwt (around 750kg). The
