Hi guys, I'm in the process of manufacturing a new custom made stainless steel instrument panel for my Camaro. I got hold of half a sheet of fish scale type stainless sheet and have made quite a nice looking panel out of it. My problem is - the original gauges won't look that great in it, so I'll auction that off on ebay, along with the facia panel. So now I'm looking for new gauges. What do you guys suggest? So far from what I've found the Speco gauges seem quite well priced and look like a half decent gauge. Autogauge are pricey and are they really any better than others on the market? All up, I'm looking for nine gauges total, and want them to be all matching, although I'm not too fussed about a clock for telling the time, I actually have a clock from a Mazda 808 which wouldn't look out of place.

I haven't used aftermarket gauges for years but have always had a good run out of VDO.
Cheers...Dave

I have to agree with Dave on this one. VDO will post you a full catalog of their gauges, of all series. They've got modern stuff, classic stuff, and all stuff in between, all matching ranges.
If you're in Bris, call these guys for a catalog: http://

Due to price I've used speco's in mine (3 3/4"tacho, 2 3/4"boost, 2"fuel, 2"water temp, 2"oil pressure so far...). If you are only after 2" diameter the common ones (mech oil, mech water etc) go for $25 at repco quite frequently - you can't go passed tha |

Thanks for the replies, I hadn't thought of VDO gauges and from what I can remember - they were once the best available. Anyway I won't rush into this, I'll research them all. Thanks for your time guys.
Cheers, Geoff.

I'm looking at Stewart Warner gauges as accesories gauges in the HQ - some have a nice retro look, others very modern; http://www.stewartwarner.com/

You could also put TPI Guages in E-Bay Motors and check out the range there
