Hi all,
I was hoping someone would be able to help... I've just inherited my Grandfathers 1974 HQ Statesman De Ville. It has a factory 350 Chevy, and is on the tree auto. The paintwork is knackered (crows-feet), but very little rust. It has been sitting in his shed for the past ten years collecting dust.

Can anyone give me a indication if the old-girl is worth anything (over the years heaps of people have tried to buy it from my grandfather, but he kept it due to sentimental reasons). My lad turns 16 in a year or so, and may be a good one to keep in the family.

Registered, repainted and looking a million dollars it may fetch $15,000 or more. Possibly $20,000. What colour and trim is it? Is it a 6 seater or 5 seater (often column shift TH400 HQ's had bench seats). What factory options - air, steer, power windows?

The statesman is Purple with a white vinyl roof. Interior is white, with woodgrain trim. There is an air-conditioner fitted (not factory), a unit under the dash, and is a 6 seater. It also has power windows and power steering. My dad says it use to absolu

Sounds like a nice car. Only two things that will let it down are the factory bench and aftermarket air. Still worth good money painted up nice. As it is you might pull $8k on Ebay. Maybe more.

I agree with all the above - I hate to say this, but if you look at Fords as a guide, HO phase III's are pulling ridiculous numbers, but Fairmont's, Fairlanes, Landau's and any non GT's, even with 351's are way, way behind in value, Holdens seem to be sim

Yes they are way behind (as $20k is way behind $220k) but you advertise an untouched ZC 351 Fairlane in a condition as described by JP67 for the Statesman and you'll get $10k everyday. A HQ Statesman will never pull GTS350 values, but a nice 350 example w

No disagreement here, the values Byron is talking for an original 350 statesman would make sense, conidering condition described. I'm, glad noone had a 350 for me when I turned 16 - I probably wouldn't have made it this far!!! ......we are all custodians

As many of you guys would know, I own a South Africian Export HQ 350 Statesman. It's in showroom condition with a little over only 68,000km on the clock. This vehicle is all original and only ever had three owners, one of which is myself.
I can't say how

My point exactly, except I don't think that a 350 Statesman will ever exceed a GTS350 (sedan or coupe), GTS308 coupe or LS350 coupe in value. But they may well overtake LS or Monaro coupes, 253 GTS's and SS's in the long run. I've got a few sets of HQ Sta

No, I never said exceed in value, sort after is what I said, but your point of value is only one of which a buyer is willing to pay. It's easily seen on ebay today, yesterday or tomorrow what people are selling and what is been paid.
Vehicles are often h

I see what you meant now. But I agree with you on the point about 350 HQ Statesmans being very good value at the moment as they have not really started pulling the dollars they should, which is why I think we agree that on the original question that start

Byron, agree with you on that. The HQ's are in the waiting line, and I'm sure we'll see some nice examples in fews years to come.
