Hey holden fans. Im no tech, very far from it. Now in saying that, could my mum install a aircon compressor into a VT Calais 99 than just go and get it gased. Or is it a job for a real mehanic. Thanks all...

The simple answer is 'probably not' (not properly anyway). It also depends on what is wrong with the old compressor and also whether you are you fitting a new or 2nd hand one. e.g. if the 'faulty' compressor is simply leaking and you are repla

Also bear in mind it's illegal & not good for the Ozone layer to just let the gas out so if it's still got gas in it legally it needs to be reclaimed properly.

R134a is not that much better for the ozone layer than the old R12 was (a little but

That's true Jim.

I also believe that R134A is being fased out in favour of a new gas.
