can purchase a 9"diff for my ht without center has 28 spline axles with it. Are 31 spline better than 28 spline and whats the advantages of one over the other?

31 are stronger but centres are harder to find. 28 spline is the same spline as Holden HQ-VK big Salisbury, VN onwards and others. 28 spline will be fine for a HT. A 3:1 LSD centre won't cost much.

I guess you need to think of how much HP you are planning on, and how hard you are planning on driving it. 28 spline is OK for street use and drags with slicks up to aprox 500HP, again depending on how hard your ca launchs.
