Hi

are fitting reconditoined water pump to EJ cyclinder block - the location where the pump attaches is quite dirty with build up of residue, dirt and what not.

Whats the best way to clean the cylinder block so that the water pump attaches nicely without leaks.

I dont want to damage the cyclinder block - is it ok to use wire brush?

what would you suggest

thanks Jeff

a sharp scraper will do it..a bit of wet and dry to tidy it up.

Hi Jeff,

Yeah, a wire brush will be fine.

You can also use a paint scraper to get the worst of it (or the stubborn bits) off.

You won't hurt the cast iron...

Cheers...Dave

and then a bit of acetone around the sealing surfaces to get rid of the rest, especially any greasy bits.
