Hi
I have had my hk prem for a year or so and im thinking of converting it to v8. I have done v8 conversions on my valiants but not to a holden. Ideally I am looking for a hk-g v8 donor car but they are getting very hard to find and too expensive. So if i have to do it bit by bit i want to know what I need.
obviously i need new wiring, bigger brakes, radiator, new engine mounts but
-do i need another engine crossmember??
-what trans crossmember do i need (i want to run a t350 or t400)? are these bolt-in or does the chassis need altering?
-will the trans tunnel need modification?
-how different are the v8 throttle linkages to the 6 cylinder ones?
-can it be converted to a throttle cable?
-are the chev engine mounts different to the 253-308 engine mounts?
-can i use the same cross member for a chev v8 and holden v8?

All you need is:

New front springs
Mount adaptors
Engine harness
Accellerator linkage
Radiator
Disc brake system on 6 and 8 the same

Yes mount adaptors are diferent for chev and holden V8

Rear crossmembers for different models and gearboxes

A TH350 fits easily but some work is required for the TH400. A TH350 will use a Powerglide gearbox crossmember and HT/G trimatic shifter and aftermarket kickdown cable.
