I bought a NOS diver side door latch from eBay some time ago. I went to fit it today as my old one was being painfull.

After removing the old one and getting it in place the HQ screws would not go in. I removed it and even out of the door they would not go in. In a brainwave I thought it could be a later model latch and hence be metric screws. Having a spare HZ/WB (not sure but not Hq) door in the shed took the screws from it - still no cigar.

Does anyone have any clue what is going on. Is there a trick or did they forget to tap out the holes with thread at the factory?

cheers,

Scott

could still be metric you aren't sure what the one out of the garage is. look in the holes and see if they are threaded.

The latches have no thread in them, before you put the latch in use your old screws to make a thread again.you will need a little force but they will go in.
