Hey Guy's, hoping someone can shed some light on this issue for me. I have just purchased an 73 GTR Torana and have be told two different stories when it comes to adding lead to the fuel. A bloke at Auto Pro has said not to use it as it will clog up the valves and I should just use premium unleaded. Another bloke who owns an old Ducati has told me that I should use it but at only half the recommended amount per litre. Does anyone have any more info as I do not wish to do any harm to the engine. Call an LPG Conversion specialist...
ask them about it, or who to speak to if they cant help you?
i think from memory, as long as it has alloy heads and hardened valves, or something?!

Just use premium unleaded and add some upper cylinder head lubricant (UCHL). Morey's, Nulon, whatever brand floats your boat. It's not rocket science. In fact rocket science would have fuel calculations. Yeah?

Can the GTR head take modern guides and valve seats ?? That would alleviate the need to worry about additives. Cant be seen either so wont effect originality. I had a 1942 cast iron side valve block done...worked a treat. Should be a snap on the GTR.

Yes you can fit modern guides and seats in the red heads John.Benno as Peter said running UCLH works fine and I have run my HQ and my HR on straight unleaded for years with out any problems.But if you want the facts on if they do still burn valves on unle

Yes HQSS...I run Premium in the HQs too, no additive. the 235's wont rev hard enough to warrant it. Barely 2000rpm at 100kmh.

Thanks alot guy's. On reading all your replies and speaking with a few other people I think I'll stick with premium and the UHCL and then go over it closely when we do the next rebuild. Cheer's.
