Hi everyone, Probably a silly question, but are hj gts sedans worth keeping original (by original I mean standard with a 308, T400 upgrade) or just modify to my hearts content. Im not looking to sell mine but I would like a serious horsepower upgrade and that will entail some rear chassis mods and cage work. I have the national debt in paint and panel and dont want to ruin any (future) opportunities to sell. I know the sedans are fairly unloved so what is your opinion on future value (if any). Thanks...

Thanks mate,Maybe im better off cutting up a kingswood and keeping the gts stockish. I dont know what to make of the ridiculous prices cars go for these days. I guess its great if you own a Hk/t/g coupe or hq/j/x but they are rapidly becoming out of the r

If I owned one I would have no hesitation in chopping, cutting, shortening, lengthening, channeling, chassis making, tubbing, whatever.

Your car, do what you want.

If you are after financial return, get a rental house.

Im not after a financial return, but how many former owners of cars that are bringing ridiculous amounts of money are kicking themselves now. I have no hesitation in cutting up a car because I want a car to be enjoyed, not locked away in a hermetically se

I should also point out that I plan on keeping this car as long as fuel is around to feed it, So I guess at the end of it's time I can be happy that I used the car for what I wanted to without a care for what it's worth dollar wise. Hell, I couldve laid d

Yes the prices are becoming out of range of the average enthusiast and looks as though the hj gts has appreciated somewhat. Have seen prices up to 25grand. Other models even with non original paint and drivetrains might not go for top dollar but they stil

Hi all. My paint and panel man says basically anything that can be welded in can be cut out but is hesitant on a rear clip for obvious reasons. He also says mini tubs and a four point cage isnt really molesting the car too much. Im not sure, we are keepin

Go inland. HQ-HZ 4 doors are still around, and in rust free condition. I've cut a few rust free examples up for rust repair bits for tonners, including a HZ GTS. You'll buy a complete HJ 4-door for $1000 rust free. If in NSW I'm talking places like Coonam

Hi Phill, I recently purchased a HJ GTS sedan from its only owner. Sure, its only a 253 auto but I love it for its originality and authenticity. I think its pretty rare these days to find a one owner car which comes with all the books and paper work. I do

Per Byron's note. Re HQ-HZ at Bathurst.

I have only found 2 entries in Hardie 1000 1973 and 1974. So only 2nd series HQ and no HJ-X-Zs. In 1971 & 72 it was HO's Chargers and XU1s.

In 1973 Ron Dickson/Bob Stevens took a HQ GTS around for 130/163 laps
