Bit of a read but interesting i guess..... here we go...

As some would know i have been hunting for glove box lids and tyre placards from hq-wb and also info about them. why? im board and its something diferent to collect. =)

anyhow wondering if anyhow has a hj parts book. im looking for the placard list from a very late issue book. the later the better. It seams to me that the HJ sandman used the same placards as the HQ. But later on in around 76 in the HJ range it looks like they may have updated the placard and given it its own unique placard/placards.

Now with the HQ's and HJ's there was also a diferent version of the placards. this was ending the part number with a ND. now from my research this is because the ones with the ND have the speed warning written in mph. all the placard without the ND in the HQ and HJ range have the speed warnings in kph with the equiv in brackets in mph. It wasnt until the HX placards that they left off the mph equiv. So why did some HQ's and HJ's have the mph only placard and some have the kph and mph equiv placard?? who knows.... maybe diferent plants fitted diferent versions.... dunno....

Byron by the looxkay of you website it doesnt show anything about this unique placard but does say as you have found that the HJ parts books dont list the sandman placards as i have found also. only utes and panos excluding sandman placards. Byron you state that all HJ sandmans ya have seen have had HQ placards. Is this still the case? I have also seen a many originals with the HQ ones, But i also have evidence of a few stock original hj's with the newer updated placard. there is no way that it could have been changed. and there is more than one so the posibility of it being a mistake doesnt seem true. One was one from someone here that said they had a HJ come through work that looked to be a sandy with this placard. no parts book lists this placard at all that i have found. Then i got onto another bloke that sent me a few pics of a genuine hj sandman van adel built with this unique placard.

The diferance between the two placards is that the hq one had more rim size options than the suposed late HJ one. it cutted out a few of the skinny 5" rim options. so maybe would make sence that later on in the HJ range they didnt fit as many skinny rims. unsure......

so anyway im on the hunt for a very late issue of the hj parts manual. if you do have one look in section 8. and if you can scan the page with the placard list or take a photo of it it would be muchly apreciated. and maybe i can help Byron update his page (Byron thats if ya want it), if i can find a little more proof.

Also anyone with a stock orig HJ sandman if you could let me know what year and month and plant it is and what number placard u have would be great! With this info i maybe able to put together something that makes sence.....

Cheers for ya help!!

Jason

PS if you have other manuals ie, hq-wb than a placard list from them would be great also. i have looked through many and sometimes they have been updated so would be good to keep updating my list also.

Also something else that unique about the HQ sandman and HJ sandman and the HQ gts placards is they are smaller than every other one i have seen and have. Even the late HJ update placard is the small HQ sandman and gts size.

Just also had another look
