Hey guys, I'm looking at buying a VH commodore SL/E. This one's a 253 and auto. My question is, is there much hassle in dropping in a holden six? I need info on the wiring loom, and mounting points (which i assume are the same, although my father says otherwise). The engine combo will be a 202 and 4sp (new hoon laws) Thanks boys Cheers Alex

Alex, The K member is the same. The gearbox cross member is the same but mounts further back so you will need a shorter tailshaft too for the six. The uni joints are bigger on V8 cars also so if you use the six cylinder tailshaft you have to replace th |

No Byron when they built V8 Commodores they had to move the engine forward partly due to the front sump but mainly so the dissy could clear the firewall where it slopes forward at the top for the plenum area. This requires a longer tailshaft for the V8 an Edited by user Wednesday, 13 June 2007 12:31:17 AM(UTC)

Again you learn something new every day! I knew the V series V8 engine mount adapters were different to U and W series, but I always assumed the 6cyl ones would be too and never bothered looking. I've always stripped blue and black motor 6cyl external stu |

thanks for your advice guys. I ended up buying a VK sl. you know 202, 5sp etc. It's a country car, so it has zero rust. But it has 200 000kms. Engine ran well though, it is a good start to project, i'll say that
