Hoping somebody might give me some advice....my 186 long motor is lying on its left side without oil on a couple of old wheels and tyres waiting for a new sump gasket. Because of shortage of free time its been sitting like that for several weeks and somebody has said that the hydraulic lifters will run out of oil and that it will be very difficult(and damaging)to build up oil pressure when the motor is restarted. Is this the case and is there anything I can do now to fix it?
Thanks for any replies.

what about new motors? I don't know the answer to your question but it only takes a few seconds for a fresh motor to build oil pressure... I would have thought it would be ok for that amount of time??
Anyone?

cold crank with the motor in the car or on a trolley but no rotor button .so no spark so no start this stops the sudden kneed for oil when its not there (damage)crank for a little while then give it some spark then see how you go thats the best way to do |
