Hi guys,
I have a small block chev running a mechanical fuel pump. The pump needs replacing. I have one here that is meant for a big block chev. The damn thing looks identical. But I just wanted to check to see if it will fit. Is there any mechanical difference between the big block and small block fuel pumps??
Is it going to cause any hassles if i bolt the big block pump up to my small block??

No difference, apart from pressure ratings. Both small block and big block use the same length fuel pump pushrods. You should be O.K with it, the worst that can happen is flooding the carby if no fuel return line is connected. Physically they are the sa

Hi Guys.
There is another difference.
The SBC pumps can have either 5/16" or a 3/8" fuel line fittings. AFAIK all BBC fuel pumps only have the larger 3/8" fuel line fittings. So it depends which SBC pump you mean. If the fittings on your 2 pumps loo |

Dont fit it if its a 40985 as the stroke is shorter on the arm and is possibble tp snap the shaft causing big damage .HoldenOn Dazza
