hi guys,
Im currently converting the opel 4 cylinder engine in my torana to a red 202. i've got all the gear needed including a different front end, gearbox bellhousing, tailshaft and diff centre. my problem is im not sure what car this engine came out of and whether or not i need pollution gear. the engine number is QL464098, its a red high compression 202. if anyone knows what this engine has come out of and if it came with pollution gear it would be greatly appreciated. Plus if there are any tricks or problems i may encounter doing this conversion.
cheers

Hi elizep42.

What you haven't told us, is what model or date your Torana is. As Byron has said, the motor is a '74 HQ, but if your Torana is say a late '76, then a '74 HQ motor won't cut it.

Basically the rule is, that you have to comply to whatever

Hi elize42.

This is where I get accused of being too pedantic. The car you have is Sunbird not a Torana. There were no Torana 1900s built after the Sunbird came out in late '76. Just to confuse the issue, I think they're still (incorrectly) stamped Tor
