I used Meguires 'clay' to remove sap from a car and it worked really well. Autobarn stock it. It looks like plasticine and when rubbed over paint with a lubricant like water, it removes the overspray or sap. It did not scratch or mark my paint in any way,

I wish you luck with the sap, its a bastard to get off. My mrs attacked the pine sap stuck to the spoiler of our TX5 with a scourer, of all things, and now it looks like the paint has faded around the whole area!

Yeah I rubbed methylated spirits into it, which softened it, scratched as much off as I could with my nail and repeated. Just don't let the spirits sit on the paint too long, I just gave it a good scrub down afterwards with water.

Oooooh with that size sap, and down to the primer, there is not much to save the paint.

Clay only works on products like overspray, fine sap drops, industrial fallout etc.

I was also unlucky enough to have air dry enamel overspray all over my acryli

I have a 60 foot Swamp cyprus and each autumn for 2 months at least, any car within a 10 metre radius cops it.

I used GUM TURPENTINE with a soft cloth. Dissolves it in seconds and no paint damage. Easy on the skin too.
