I replaced the rear pads on my EB a couple of weeks ago. The pistons were a real fight most of the way to wind back in.

The new pads drag with an annoying singing noise when I take off. They don't drag hard enough to impede the cars movement (in fact the car will still roll freely with the dragging happening) just bad enough to be really annoying when driving though car parks.

Is this a common thing? will it go away in time when the pads wear down a bit? Do I need to replace my rear calipers?

It shi ts me to tears when the media & state politicians refer to the Federal Government as "Canberra"

My partner had new pads put in her EB a while back and for a couple weeks you could smell the pads wearing away, so maybe its a simular thing just you get some noise.
Either that or you got something on either your disc or pad during the change.

Check for wear where the callipers actually bolt to the diff. I've seen this a few times now. In these cases the callipers were working fine but the calliper housing being worn was moving around causing the pads to drag on the disc rotor. This might no

I to had the same on my brakes and I replaced discs and no more drag.

I just got some new discs, brake pads and oil for $99.99 from motormate here in Adelaide, if they have the same store in Canberra good savings to be made.

Thanks for the replies. Paul yes I had the slide pin problem with my front brakes so bad it was causing the pads to wear into a wedge shape & the rotors too. Replacing pads, rotors & slide bushes fixed it (I hope).

Yesterday I drove the first

Rear calipers on an EA/EB, need to be wound back in with a special tool, not just pushed back in. This is due to the Hand brake set up on the rear brakes.

Thanks Dmax. Yes I made the special tool & wound them back in. They were a real fight to wind in for the first 80% then they turned easily.

The piston you wind in has a small cut out in it make sure this lines up with the rivet head on the new brake pad that holds the metal retaining clip on the pad. Or the pad will not sit flat against the disc causing it to drag. When you look at it you wil

Thanks Phil,
I am in the process of replacing the engine at the moment and then I'll re visit the dragging brakes when the car runs again.

After 1 year they still drag and are noisey when I reverse.

I think that the problem is the flexible

From memory they are always tight to wind back, I think if you remove the parkbrake lever on them they push straight back in rather than twisting them (unless it is not in the correct position for the pad locator)? The slides are free.
