The TH700 4 speed automatic transmission just wondering what the difference is between the ones fitted to v8s and ones fitted to v6s in the VN/VP series and can they be swapped between each other(v6 box onto v8 or vice versa)any help anyone could give me would be great

the v6 is a buick motor from the usa. the v8 is a chev bolt pattern they will not fit. i can get an adaptor kit $750 to fit a v6 box to a v8. in v8 insides are not the same ither. but u can do it and lots of v8's out there have a v6 box coz there ezy to g

car troubles as usual.Rear gearbox mount broke then had to get all new uni joints/centre cv joint and bearing first mechanic put centre cv together 60 degrees out and bearing mounting plate back to front all that made shaft out of balance so had to get al

is there a bell housing on them or anything like that that can be swapped to make life any easier if got one of each car side by side can i use the two to make one go cos this almost seems to be the cheapest and easiest way to go for me right now if possa

no it will never fit the v8 bellhousing in bigger. but it will fit if you get an adapter plate. how much have you been priced for an auto?

all the mechanics i have contacted are saying that it is ABOUT 2 grand for a new one or getting my broke one recon or rebuilt plus installation costs on top of that but have got some people looking into a couple second hand ones not too keen unless they c

i can get a s/h 1 for $1000 or a reco for ($1900 (3 months war) but need your old 1 back. and you will need sum1 to take out the old 1 . where u from ?

look on ebay, you can get a vn vp v8 box from 300 to 1700 depending on condition, plenty of them out there!

the prob is thers not heeps out ther thats y they go for so much. u can get a v6 box for 200,. and ther only going to get harder to get.

th700 v8 and v6 have completely different trans case, bellhousing and trans case is one entire cast with no joins on both v8 and v6. Not until vt commodores did bellhousing become removable. Getting an adapter plate would be more time, $ and effort than i

its got no drive in top 2 gears but 1st,2nd and reverse work fine apparently its a blown front seal the story goes that they are hydrolically controlled and that 1st 2nd are dependent on rear seal to retain and controll fluid and 3rd and 4th are dependent
